Amazon Prime Day officially launched back in 2015 as a way to celebrate Prime members on Amazon’s 20th birthday.
Since then, it has grown into an annual event that offers exclusive deals and discounts to consumers, with Prime Day 2023 generating over $12 billion in sales – the biggest year to date!
If you’re a business owner who sells products on Amazon, you’ve come to the right place.
Prime Day promotion submissions have now opened and you have until 3rd May (US only) or 17th May (UK only) to complete them.
Although we don’t currently have a confirmed date of when Prime Day will be, we know that typically it falls on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the third week in July.
If Amazon continues to follow that trend, this year it will be on 16th and 17th July.
Therefore, you will need to make sure that you stock up on your products accordingly and in line with any restrictions if you use the Amazon fulfilment centre.
Prime Day and Black Friday are the two biggest events in your Amazon calendar every year and cannot be underestimated.
We’ve worked with hundreds of businesses like yours to help them improve their marketing on Amazon.
We are also one of the few Amazon Partner agencies in the UK that has a dedicated team of experts ready to help you, should you want it.
But for now, here are our 5 top tips to prepare for this year’s Prime Day…
Top tips to prepare for Amazon Prime Day 2024
1) Stay on top of your stock
Prime Day is a fantastic opportunity to sell your products, but if you don’t stock accordingly, you will miss out on potential sales.
And that doesn’t just apply to the event itself, but afterwards too.
As you will see an increase in traffic to your seller page and products, it is likely that you will get return customers after the event or people who didn’t purchase during but are now ready to buy.
2) Get ready for the calm before the storm
Having seen trends like this for many years, it is completely normal for you to see a slow down of sales just before the event.
This is because consumers are waiting for the event to grab themselves a deal!
However, if your sales continue to be slow up to, on and after Prime Day, get in touch and we can help you identify potential issues with your account.
3) Start advertising now!
You need to start building your all-important brand awareness for your products and get some solid data to help you understand the true value and impact of Prime Day and other big events such as Black Friday.
The average consumer needs to see your brand 3 times before they recognise you.
Meaning that brand awareness is incredibly important, especially in the run-up to Prime Day.
Building a base of data will help you to identify any trends and provide insights into when and how your target customers buy.
It will also help you to pre-plan and make sure you are stocked correctly for events going forward.
4) Plan your budget
With our experience in Amazon marketing, we know that sellers will have to increase their budgets by 200–500%.
Even more in some cases!
But, you need to plan and set up your advertising now to understand exactly how much you will need.
5) Don’t stop after the event
Just because the event is over, doesn’t mean the interest in your product has stopped.
Continuing to market post Prime Day will help you to keep the interest high and therefore improve your sales.
