With JDM Plates facing tough competition in their market, and their existing Google Shopping ad campaigns not resulting in any significant growth, the business came to Add People for assistance with their online marketing strategy.

Since joining in December 2021, their new campaigns have gone from strength to strength, producing some fantastic results.

The challenge

Prior to coming onboard with our eCommerce team, JDM Plates had been bringing in most of their revenue through Google Shopping, but their existing strategy was too generic, meaning they weren’t maximising their ad budget in the most effective places.

Essentially, JDM Plates had been allocating the same ad bids and budgets for all product campaigns across the board, rather than exploiting the opportunity to focus more of their ad spend towards their best-selling products.

Given JDM Plates’ fairly low Average Order Value (AOV), one challenge that our experts faced, was ensuring that a high percentage of users clicking on paid ads would go on to make a purchase.

Otherwise, JDM Plates would be wasting precious budget on clicks that were unlikely to generate sales.

It was critical to get their campaigns back on the right track, as they weren’t generating enough return to justify running the Shopping campaigns.

Our strategy

Our team set about changing JDM Plates’ Google Shopping strategy by splitting their top-performing product, 4D number plates, into their own campaign.

This meant that the team could assign more of the business’ ad budget towards this best-seller.

The team adopted a range of ad campaigns, including standard Shopping, Smart Shopping and Performance Max campaigns, and tailored these to meet the desired objectives for JDM Plates.

Since implementing this new strategy, their Return On Ad Spend (ROAS) and the conversion rate have both seen significant improvements.
